Orthopedic Specialists Explain Ways to Help with Employee Lower Back Recovery

According to the U.S. Department of Labor, back injuries are the number one workplace safety problem. This means as an employer, it is your responsibility to make sure your employees are not suffering from back pain caused by work. The Bureau of Labor Statistics have said:

“More than one million workers suffer back injuries each year, and back injuries account for one of every five workplace injuries or illnesses. Further, one-fourth of all compensation indemnity claims involve back injuries, costing industry billions of dollars on top of the pain and suffering borne by employees.”

Orthopedic specialty care highly recommend strength testing workers before putting them in positions that exceed their strength ability and could ultimately affect their lower back. It is important that employees, who will be carrying heavy weights, learn how to utilize lifting techniques that will place minimum stress on their lower back.
